Vectis Astronomical Society

The Vectis Astronomical Society was founded in 1976 by a small group of enthusiasts wishing to promote amateur astronomy for all ages, both men and women, throughout the Isle of Wight. Every level of astronomical interest is catered for from beginners to those with more advanced knowledge who want to specialise. Annual membership is £17 with reduced rates for juniors, and other categories. The Society meets on the fourth Friday of each month in Newport, at 7.30 pm. There is a monthly magazine, an extensive astronomical library, Skywatch/Observing Sessions, Specialist Groups and Technical Advice. Visitors are welcome. For more information telephone (01983) 865451.

The Society has recently built its own Observatory on the Isle of Wight.
