A project to get a searchable database on the Internet of all
Births, Marriages and Deaths on the Isle of Wight from 1837 to
2002. This involves a lot of voluntary work by members of the
Isle of Wight Family History Society to
transcribe hand-written records from the official registers held
by the county registrar. This may be done only on the
registrar's premises so we use a lap top computer and transfer
all the data home to process and upload to the web site of the
IOWFHS.

Up to 2008-01-20. All births, marriages and deaths are now
complete from 1837 to 2002. We are having difficulty getting
more data from the Isle of Wight Council for 2003 to 2007. The
data so far on the web site is currently being checked for
accuracy by volunteers. See the Family
History site for the current status.
